New fishing reel review

With the condition that you are a Snook angler then you know what these amounts represent. But, if you are not then 28-32 inches is the slot that your fish have to be in to keep them. Snook are very protected fish, and that they really should be. I want to consider them as my pets because I usually catch in release. I generally only keep just one per year. This is definitely my opening post and I am ultimately just learning the layout and playing around with some of the settings– there will be more useful subject matter as the internet page grows!

fishing reel review

I actually moved to Southern Florida 5 year or soes ago (2007). I hung out down here for about 9 thirty day periods at that time and progressed to straggle around the country. Inside a year of deserting I decided to come back for good, it was the fishing that called me back. There is absolutely nothing like it, if you have never ever fished South Florida then you are missing out– that simple.

So here I am, still residing North of West Palm Beach. Just one of the primary places that educated me how to battle big fish was definitely the Palm Beach Inlet Pump House, it is nick named Snook Heaven.

We have a blast when we here. The Snook are almost always biting here, no mater what time of season. I have actually landed lunkers day, evening, summer, and winter. Its full of typically middle size Snook, but there are some much bigger swimming around waiting for some fresh baits. Snook are not the only fish which I have grabbed out here– we have landed every little thing at the time bait runs– even colossal Tarpon.

So yeah, I found out how to fish the Inlet. At the time I was abiding on Singer Island and pretty much researched all over that island hunting for spots. Having the deputies called on me was rather common, but even they began to gain an outstanding report with me. The deputies on Singer Island happen to be pretty laid back if you show them some appreciation (just like most sheriffs), they really just don’t take satisfaction in bums (pardon my french). I merely did everything I should do to get in the sea. I did a lot of wade fishing that season, waist deep in the inter coastal fishing soft lures in the mangs with my tough Stradic– those were the good old days!

Now there was this one area that I liked to go, it was directly in front of this ladies house. I would frequently park like half a kilometer away considering she had already telephoned the cops on me 3 or 4 instances. I always remember slipping in to the mangs and wading out along with my rod and bookbag praying that I wouldn’t get snipped by a sea beast. This lady must have indeed always been on the prowl for people fishing there since on any occasion I would walk out in front of precisely where the Mangroves ceased and into the location that was in front of her residence, I would undoubtedly invariably see her standing in the big picture home window. Once I caught on to where to park so she couldn’t screw me, I would just grin, wave, and cast ever so in harmony into that inter coastal water. That year I lived on Singer Island was one of the best seasons of my life.

In fishing the pump house and wading the spots I found in the inter coastal, I was able to meet certain cool residents that were down to school me up on fishing down here. I am super grateful for those guys and hopefully you will get to hear more about them in my later posts.

Lets join in conversation concerning one of the reels I do own, the Shimano Stradic FI 4000

The main detail I like concerning this reel is that it is lightweight and extremely sturdy. When I began to study salt water fishing I went out and bought some random rod and reel mix with this massive freakin reel on it. After I casted that thing about 25 instances, I was ready to call it a day. With the Stradic FI 4000, I can cast tons of times without getting the very least bit fatigued. I burned through a few other small off label reels attempting to keep light-weight tackle, and then I found this little baby. Im rather darn sure that this reel will forever be my favorite. I have the Shimano Stradic FI 4000 specifications noted below. Now this is for the older model of Stradic fishing reel made by Shimano. They do have a newer version out that I haven’t tried yet, but it looks really sweet.

Line Capacity (lb|yds) 8|240, 10|200, 12|160– Exactly what is this? That is a small reel in comparison to big game fishing reels, but it is all you need for catching fish from shore. I have recently landed 80 + pound Tarpon on this reel. One thing to remember with the line scope is that the specs are for mono filament line, if you are using braided line (which you should be in my advice) then the reel will be equipped for way more line than what is exemplified by the spec capacity.

Gear Ratio 5.8:1 – This is good. Every one time you reel the handle, it takes the reel almost 6 complete rotations. It makes for reeling in a hefty sea beast a little less stressful, just remember to keep your rod tip up so the fish doesn’t break you off!

Line retrieve per crank 36 inches – This is related to the gear ratio Weight 11.6 oz – This is one of my best-loved things about this reel! When I am casting artificial baits 100 times over and over, I don’t like to use a heavy reel because my arm will get tired very quickly.

Additional Features – Aluminum frame + graphite sideplate and rotor, S-Concept, S A-RB bearings, Fluidrive II, Super Stopper II, Machined aluminum handle shank, AERO Wrap II, waterproof drag, Maintenance port, Repairable clicker, and Bearings 5BB, 1RB

I used to be convinced that I could possibly just stroll into a tackle store, get some cheap combo and be on my way. As a matter of fact, most people that I fished with at the time felt the same way. What I found was that I was fishing with the wrong individuals. The pros are using good gear, and do there research on spots. They are not only good at what they do because they use good tackle, but it has a whole lot to do with it. I dropped a link to this real for you below because it has been one of the greatest invests I have ever made in my fishing tackle.

I have been fishing the St. Croix Legend Elite along with the Shimano Stradic 4000 as my own personal combo for more than a year at this time. I call her “Lady of the Lake”, and she is delightful. I love this set up more than any other rod I have. Its lightweight, fast, and accurate. I can skip baits under mangroves with no problem, and the rod is primarily strong enough to handle significant fish. I have landed 60 pound tarpon with this fishing rod. I have actually found some solid specs on this rod, but words could not describe how glad I am that I made this investment.

I want to start off by showboatting on my lifetime warrantee. I feel relaxed knowing that anytime I take this rod out on the water I don’t have to worry about hooking anything “too big”. If the rod gets broken in half by one of the sea beasts that live off the shores of Palm Beach then St Croix will replace it for life!

St. Croix has been manufacturing superb fishing rods for numerous years and they are well known for their high quality and all American fishing gear. But there are two more advancements that divide them from other premium rod developers. It’s their new and exciting advanced SCV graphite and the new high tech IPC tooling process that has been applied to their Legend Elite series rods.

St. Croix Legend Elite (ES66MF) Specs – The material they use is some cutting edge stuff, its called SCv high-modulus|high-strain graphite. It makes a world of difference for me because it keeps the rod light weight and super strong. I don’t want to be tired after my 50th cast.

Love at First site: As quickly as I took this rod up at my neighborhood tackle outlet I was hooked on it. It was so LIGHT WEIGHT! It was virtually unbelievable. I mean come on 3.5 OZ! At that point I saw the price tag, and set it back down. When I started checking out the other stuff in there, the guy managing the outlet walked over and picked up the St Croix. He expressed “You have any idea how awesome this rod is?” and then went ahead to sell me on it.
